Its amazing how many businesses have spent good money on website design and still are getting little or no return on this investment. Try answering these simple questions.
How much have you spent on you website? Maybe £5,000 ($10,000) or have you gone for the all singing all dancing £15,000 ($30,000) site with animated pictures, frames and rolling pages. But the question remains - what business benefit are you deriving from your site?
How much more business are you getting because you have your website? Can you quantify and track the incremental business you have received for the investment you have made.
When you search on what you consider a key word or phrase associated with the products/services that you provide, where does your site appear in the page rankings? Try Google, MSN and Yahoo, and try and find your site. If you are not on the first page, ask yourself the question - how many people searching for my key word/phrase will bother going to the second page of results?
.Now look at the companies that are getting a high position in the results - do you know why this is? These organisations are your key competitors and are taking business off you every day of the week, in fact its 24/7 because the net is always available across the globe.
The answer to this problem is quite simple. You have paid for someone to design a pretty website, not get you onto the first page of the results page. But its even worse than that, some of the techniques they have used to make your site look nice may actually reduce your ability to be seen. Yes, that's right you have paid good money to become anonymous to your customers!
Getting a high ranking in the results page of searches isn't a matter of luck, but is about understanding the algorithms used by the various companies and applying optimization techniques to greatly improve your ranking position.
Optimization, and specifically SEO, is our business - this is all we do. We don't design websites - there are better people than us to do this for you.
How do we do this? We continually track the mathematical algorithms used, as these are continually being modified with different weightings being applied to various parameters. The two partners in our company are both Mathematicians with over 50 years experience in the IT industry. This may give you some idea of why web designers don't optimise sites and we do.
So can we anyone guarantee number 1 spot on Google? Our answer is no. However, across a basket of companies, e.g. Google, MSN, Yahoo, Ask Jeeves, AltaVista, optimization can be achieved. In fact, we are so confident that we will guarantee that your company will appear on the first page results of at least 3 of the 5 companies shown above or you don't pay us. Yes, that's right - we don't want or need your money, unless we can provide you with this level of service.
